Pediatric Cancer FoundationPediatric Cancer Foundation Sportsathon

Since 1970, Pediatric Cancer Foundation has been working towards its mission to find a cure for childhood cancer. This non-profit charity raises money for research, state of the art equipment/instruments and patient/parent care for world renowned doctors at the hospitals PCF supports.

Kids helping kids. We are proud that five camps are taking part in the PCF Sportsathon this year. Every year during their camp season, campers participate in a sporting event collecting sponsors and raising money to benefit children with cancer.

The success and approval of last years 'focus' on our 2017 Sportsathon was so overwhelming that Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children's Center, NYU Langone Medical Center requested to continue it for one more year. Funds raised this summer of 2018 will be used to sponsor the Music Therapy Program held in patient rooms, individual patient pods, and in the Child Life Music Therapy studio at Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children's Center, NYU Langone Medical Center under the direction of a talented board certified Music Therapist, Joseph Lee, MTA, MT-CA. Sportsathon dollars will provide individual sessions including writing and recording original music as well as adapting music lessons for patients with unilateral weakness due to brain tumors and music for distraction during patient procedures. Children experience cancer differently than adults and we strive to find every way possible for kids to be upbeat during their long and frequent appointments.
